My Devotional JournalToday’s Our Daily Bread Author,  Kenneth Petersen AT THIS LINK      relates the curious, but true story of two prominent families in American history in 1863, when Robert Todd Lincoln, the son of The President of the U.S., was saved from being hit by a train in Jersey City by the brother of the man who would later assassinate president Lincoln.  And the ODB author used this story to show how intertwined we are in our lives with others who are all part of God’s family.

But we do need to insert a caveat to that illustration, … in that, ONLY those who are born-again Christians will be - and are - a part of God’s family, … with all the rights declared for them by Jesus dying on the cross for any/all who would surrender their (our) lives to make Jesus our Father and our King.   The King is my Daddy!   .. . How about you?

My Thanksgiving: … Oh, King Jesus, thank You, … for bringing me into Your family to be my Father and my King.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I praise You, … again Lord. …for being my Daddy, … my King!   … Amen

My Devotional JournalToday’s Our Daily Bread Author,  Tim Gustafson  AT THIS LINK    uses the Charles Dicken’s character of Oliver in the classic novel, Oliver Twist to illustrate how Oliver was treated so unfairly in life, yet he ended up being rewarded and protected for his humble way of treating others.  Dickens always wanted his characters to have a happy ending.  But unfortunately that’s not always the way life goes, does it?

Right now, some, who are reading here with me, may be going thru some really rough trials; but our troubling circumstances are God’s way of leading us and lifting us up with His strength and redemptive grace.  But taking in the linked song by Tim McGraw and meditating on the Scriptures God’s word shared with me today, I think we’ll all see that when we humble ourselves before God’s throne of grace, the Lord will lift us up and provide us with His enabling grace.  … Pretty good deal, isn’t it?  So, let’s all stick in there and continue to be humble and kind and see our God lead us today and on into tomorrow.

My Thanksgiving: … Oh, King Jesus, thank You, … for calling me to be humble and kind, like You, Lord.

My Prayer TodayOh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I praise You, … again Lord. …for leading us to live lives like You, … being humble and kind to others.  … Amen
