My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread< author, Amy Boucher Pie … AT THIS LINK  tells of an elderly widow in the Chech Republic, who called her home  an “Embassy of the Kingdom of Heaven,” saying, “My home is an extension of Christ’s kingdom,”  which is a perfect example of what Jesus Christ and other Bible authors taught (see Scriptures above) about humble service in living like Jesus … as a humble servant to others rather than living to cater to the rich and powerful as the religious leaders did in Christ’s time on earth.   


And so, my fellow Christians, do you, as do I, feel the probing word of God, maybe in the song by Tim McGraw, calling on us to humble ourselves and to serve God’s kingdom, living like Jesus did in the service of others?  And I don’t know about you, dear friend, but I’m more than a little convicted to be lifted up by our Lord, by serving others more today …. and then in the tomorrows of my life.  


My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … showing us all, as You did by washing the feet of Your disciples in the upper room, to humble ourselves and to humble ourselves as You lead us to opportunities to serve Your kingdom by serving others.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Marvin Williams… AT THIS LINK  … reports that the BBC had revealed a Chinese process of coating clothing with a substance which cleanses the garment of stains when exposed to ultra-violet light.   


And a self-cleaning process for fabrics may be a reality <b>(see photo)</b>; but when it comes to the dreaded stains of our sin, the only way we can find cleansing is through our belief in the truth of Christ’s cleansing powder and His blood which was shed to cleanse us from our sin.  


Oh how I pray that all reading here have availed ourselves of Christ’s cleansing blood, as revealed in the Scriptures above, bringing about the cleansing of the stain of sin from our lives forever. 


My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for cleansing me of my scarlet sin and making them as white as snow from my life FOREVER.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Monica La Rose … AT THIS LINK  relates a personal experience, when her husband was furloughed during the COVID pandemic, causing them to have to trust in God and to rely on faith to help them to look and work beyond the current troubles, relying on God’s promises to take care of their needs with His enabling grace. 


That’s the promise the Apostle Paul was bringing to oppressed and troubled fellow Christians in the Highlight passage, isn’t it?   Paul’s intimate relationship with Christ had brought him thru many challenging times (USE THIS LINK  to read of those times when Paul endured extreme hardships but kept the faith and followed Christ’s calling on his life.   


Do any of my readers today have any times, now or in the past, when you had to look to trust God to show you the way (see Prov. 3:6-5-6), … any times when you had to hold onto Jesus’ promise of empowering grace in our times of trouble (see 2Cor. 12:9-10.  I’d bet we all have.  Maybe we even need those Scriptures above today.  If so, we can rely on God’s strength when we’re feeling weak.  


Good battle plan, don’t you think?!!

Today we’re  all living in a caldron of stress and trial, aren’t we?  We’ve all been dealing with the threat of disease and death in the two year long COVID crisis.  There is great unrest with world-wide political tensions, …. topped off by a war going on in the Ukraine which threatens the world’s peace.  But in the midst of all these stresses and trials, God promises to give us His peace if we’re willing to trust Him (see Scriptures above).   


No question !!!  God certainly offers us His peace; … BUT, … are we willing to trust in Him, humbly and completely.   Because if we are, His peace is ours !!!   

 

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … forgiving me Your Your peace if - and when - I’m willing to trust in You.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Bill Crowder… AT THIS LINK   … quotes Abraham Lincoln. under all the pressures and stress of a broken nation involved in Civil War, saying, … “I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for that day.”  It shows a leader, humbled, to go to God in the worst trials of life, just as we should be in our trials, seeking God’s strength in surrendering to follow His will.  

Today’s ODB entry is showing us the way to go when we feel too weak to handle the pressures and stresses of life.  And that way is NOT our own way (see Prov. 3:5-6.  No, … the linked song sings of the way we must go when we feel like President Lincoln felt in The Civil War; and that is do what Clay Crosse and his friends sing in that song; and that is to humbly surrender and follow Christ.  


And so, that is why I’m stopping to pray for all of us reading here today; … that we go to God and humbly seek our Lord’s empowering and saving grace, as Peter did in the Highlight passage and Paul did in 2Cor. 12:9-10 when he was confronted with his thorn in the flesh.  But will we humble ourselves to pray like that; … oh, how I pray we do?

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Winn Collier… AT THIS LINK  relates the story of Kenyan distance runner Abel Mutai, ahead by a significant distance in an international marathon, when he became confused and got off track; but his competitor in second place, Spanish runner, Ivan Anaya, who could’ve taken advantage and won the race, redirected the Kenyan, allowing Mutai to win the race (see photo), … exhibiting the integrity of character we all should have in life.  


And that’s the kind of honesty and integrity that God calls ALL of His disciples to have.  It’s what God, thru Solomon (see Proverbs repetitively above), calls our choices to reflect.  It’s what Jesus called His followers to show in our choices (see Matt 5:37).  And it’s what Joy Williams sings in the linked song; … i.e., for us to live lives for others to see Jesus in our choices.  


What kind of choices will we make today?  Will they be choices where others will see Christlikeness in our lives; or … NOT ???

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Xochitl Dixon… AT THIS LINK  used the cartoon illustration of “Where’s Waldo” (see photo), where the character of Waldo can be found by searchers in the midst of hundreds of others in the cartoon.  He’s there; but the viewer must search diligently to find him. … {Hey, friend, using a microscope helps!}  


And that’s somewhat what Jeremiah wrote to desperate believers after they had been exiled to Babylon.  And God, thru Jeremiah’s prophesy of the coming Messiah, promised that He, the Lord, would be found by any and all who believed in Messiah’s coming and those who trusted in God’s promises (see Highlight passage).  And then, when Jesus came as the fulfillment of Messianic prophesies, … as our Lord in His sermon on the mount, He promised that He, the Lord, can and will be found by those who truly love Him and by those who seek after Him with their (our) whole hearts (see Matt 6 and 7 above) .  


SO, are we really … DILIGENTLY and TRUSTINGLY … seeking after God’s way, and not trying to do it OUR WAY?   Personally, I need to be seeking with more belief and trust in my Lord.  How about you?
