My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread author, Poh Fang Chia, reminded me in his ODB teaching of an image out of the mid-50s from a post WW2 magazine, … Mad Magazine, which had a recurring cartoon character on its cover. The image was of the irrepressible Alfred E Newman, whose editor described him as a worry-free, almost impish character; and, as in the attached image, the phrase, “What, me worry?!” was almost always on the cover right below or above Newman’s portrait.
But do we get it [?]; … that we Christians can - and should - be able to hold an attitude much like Alfred E Newman. But unfortunately many of us all too often hold onto an anti-Alfred attitude, … worrying about so many things when the reality of our lives - in Christ - is completely covered by a God Who’s totally in control and is always there to protect and lift up those who obediently believe in Him. Please take the time to meditate deeply on the truth in God’s word linked/copied above.
And, I don’t know about you, but I’m duly convicted and challenged today to become more like Alfred E and live in the truths expressed in God’s word above. … Why worry?!! …
Today, … Let’s just trust God and let Him take our worries.
My Prayer Today: Oh, … What, me worry?!! … Not today!! … Amen
