November 22, 2015: Our Best in Worship

Daily Berry Patch Devotions in 2015 - Day 325

Devotional Song:  … GO TO THIS LINK …  Please take the time to take in a video of the group Hillsong, leading in worship, and singing… Here I Am To Worship, … declaring to our God the desire for us to come with our best, our first fruits, to worship our Lord.

Highlight Passage:   Luke 10:41-42 [NKJV] …
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
… Our Lord loves it when we really give our utmost … our first fruit of worship … for His sake.

Reference Passage #3 - Romans 12: 1-2 [NKJV] … USE THIS LINK
… Our living is to be as a “living sacrifice,” pleasing to God, … as a living act of worship for Him.

My Journal for Today:  Today’s Our Daily Bread author, Anne Cetas, teaches on the essence of Christian worship by using the story of Martha and Mary’s acts of service in worship for Jesus. And having read the story in Luke 10, linked above, we know how Jesus showed Martha that Mary had given her utmost, whereas Martha had not given her ALL to be as Paul wrote in Romans 12:1-2, a “living sacrifice.”

Giving our best to God, not just what we consider “good enough,” is a theme about worship which goes all the way back to the struggle between the first brothers of faith, Cain and Abel (see Gen. 4:3-5 linked above). Cain gave, from God’s providence, what he considered “good enough,” but Abel gave the “first fruits” from God, i.e., his best, to God. And we know the outcome of those offerings of worship.

Hillsong sings, in today’s worship song (link above), that everyday we come to live as worship to our Lord, showing our love for Him in how we live and move and have our being in this life. The question becomes for all who love God. … What are we bringing to our Lord as living sacrifice to/for Him? … Are we bringing what we consider a GOOD ENOUGH offering; … or are we going to bring Him our BEST?

My Prayer Today:  Oh, dear Lord, … I come to worship today with what I consider my ALL. I pray it is that for You. … Amen
