My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Anne Cetas …  USE THIS LINK          told about the owner of a popular bookstore in Chelsea, Michigan, needing to move over 9000 books to a new location two blocks away from the original store.  And when the owner put out a request to her customers, several hundred came forward to form a human chain, moving all the books from the from the old to the new location in just two hours

And that story reminded the ODB author of how God’s people in Jerusalem, needing to rebuild the walls under Nehemiah’s leadership, worked TOGETHER, (see photo) using their individual talents to rebuild the walls (see Highlight passage).  And taking in the linked song and the Scriptures shared above, we Christians need to work side-by-side for God’s glory, don’t we?   Are you up for being part of God’s team?

My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Patricia Raybon …  USE THIS LINK          writes about award-winning Dutch gardener Piet Oudolf, who creates and designs gardens which show the beauty of dormant plants and shrubs (see photo of his design). declaring, “Beauty is in so many things you wouldn’t think of.”

And that sort of describes God’s plan to exhibit the beauty of His love by showing it off in the dead (i.e, dormant) sinners He saves; and displaying His love and beauty in them (us).   I, … for one, … pray that I can be one of those who show off the truth of God’s love in the way I live my life.  How about you?

My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Dave Brandon …  USE THIS LINK         told about a teenager, named Claire, who engaged a slightly older man, who towered over Claire in size, … sharing her faith with the man who finally, after going back-and-forth with their ideas, declared to Claire, “You got me. I can’t argue with what you’re saying.”

Claire, in this story, was just doing what all Christians are called to do in their (our) lives; and that is to be ready to share God’s good news of salvation for those who have faith in God’s finished work on the cross to save mankind.  And the ODB entry, linked above, challenges me to be ready if I have such an opportunity today.   How about you?

My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Karen Huang …  USE THIS LINK         this morning’s ODB author relates a personal story of her mother taking her father to Switzerland, a lifelong dream of his, during a time when he was dealing with increasing signs of dementia.  And during the trip, the ODB author reported that her mother saw joy in her father’s eyes, even though at times he didn’t know were he was.  

And that report from the ODB author’s mother reminded me of God’s promises to all born-again Christians in God’s word, shared in the Scriptures above, of where God is leading us to be with Him FOREVER.   I, for one look forward to that day.  How about you?

My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Sheridan Voysey …  USE THIS LINK         referenced the majestic painting on the ceiling of the Great Banquet Hall in London, painted by Sir Peter Paul Rubens between 1629-1634 (See photo) and commissioned by King Charles I to commemorate the glory of his royal family.  But ironically, it became the inglorious place where King Charles was later executed in 1649.

And the ODB entry today made biblical reference in Isaiah 14 to what most scholars believe to be the description of the fall of Satan from God’s glory in heaven to the depths of earth (see Highlight Passage).  And having taken in the linked song and studied the shared Scriptures above today, it’s clear to me that any and all things I choose to do in my life should honor the glory and majesty of of our King Jesus.   Wouldn’t you agree; … and will you join me to make our lives a reflection of our Lord’s glory?
