My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Sheridan Voysey …  USE THIS LINK   … Writes of the 17th century mathematician and theologian, Blaise Pascal, describing an “infinite abyss” in the heart of mankind that only God could fill.  And there was Saint Augustine who prayed that the heart of man is “restless until it rests in You (i.e., “God).”   And and finally King David, who sung that his heart (as is ours) longs for God as someone in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. 

And having taken in the linked song and meditated on the Scriptures shared herein, I totally identify with Pascal or Augustine or King David, … that I am one who longs for the time when I will be with my Lord forever.  And, the “love hole that God put in my heart, will be filled by Him forever.  Oh, how I am comforted to know that our God longs for us, His chosen ones, even more than we (I) long to be with Him.  

So I ask you … TODAY … do you long for what is promised in God’s word  … that one day God will fill that longing in our hearts for glory?   Oh, I do!!!  … How about you?!   

My Thanksgiving: … Oh, King Jesus, thank You …Lord, … for calling me to fill Your longing for me.      

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, … thank You, Lord, for giving us Your word to describe Your longing to be with Your own.    … Amen

My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Anne Cetas …  USE THIS LINK   … Tells a story about a woman, named Sara, who had her “To-Do” list for the day.  However, she was interrupted by the request of a young couple who needed to procure a gas card from Sara’s church to be delivered to them so that they could go on their journey.  So, Sara, feeling it was an opportunity to serve God, gladly delivered the card to the family.

The story, of course, illustrates how there are times in our lives when circumstances show us that God sometimes, … if not often, … interrupts our lives with things that give us opportunities to experience the challenge, yet the joy, of serving God.   Perhaps your or my “To Do” list will be interrupted today.  Well I pray that we will “go with the flow” and seek to follow God’s will and serve Him with joy.   Are you with me?

My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Marvin Williams …  USE THIS LINK   … Related how the billionaire owner of the NBA Dallas Mavericks once offered $100,000 to a man to change his name legally to “Dallas Maverick” and added that the NBA owner would also give an additional $100,000 to the man’s favorite charity for changing his name.  But the man refused, saying, “I'd be saying I'd do anything for money, and that bothers me. My name is my birthright. I’d like to preserve my integrity and credibility.”

And the ODB author went on to describe how the early followers of Christ were ultimately labeled “Christians” (see Acts 11:26), which became a legacy that led many non-Christians to persecute those who lived to honor God by following Christ.  And that was the name that many of us, who claim to be “Christians,” would live - and even die - for by the way we live our lives to honor our Lord.  Personally, I would do anything to leave a “Christian” legacy.  How about you?

My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Amy Boucher Pie …  USE THIS LINK   … wrote that she was saddened to learn that one group of people felt separated and discriminated against in London, which is such a cosmopolitan city, with so many differing ethnic groups living side by side.  

And that reality, especially in light of the two poignant songs linked above and the truth that God is God over all, showing no partiality, as we … here in the USA celebrate the life of Martin Luther King today, … need to recognize that God calls us ALL to live TOGETHER and love each other, … TOGETHER, … showing NO partiality to some over others.   That’s what I believe - and pray for; … how about you?
