November 11, 2014 … That Light To Freedom

Daily Berry Patch Devotions in 2014 - Day 315

Devotional Song: Go to this link  … Please take the time to take in the poignant song, sung by Hillsong, Light of the World. declaring that we can only become lights of worship when we’re in total surrender to our Lord, Jesus, Who gave it all that we could become reflections of His light in a dark world.

Highlight Passage - NKJV Philippians 2: 15-16 … To be able to reflect the light of Christ, the light of truth, into a very dark world …

Reference Passage #2 … John 14: 6 [NKJV] … Reflections of His light … the way and the truth …
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. … “

My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Dennis Fisher, illustrated the point today by telling of the “underground railroad” in the Civil War, which was set up to be a caravan of light for the slaves to escape from bondage to freedom. The slaves were to follow what was coded as “the drinking gourd,” which referred to the lights in the sky of the big dipper, pointing the way to the north star (see attached photo) by the dark of night. But even more important the slaves were to follow human points of light, i.e., the abolitionists, who would lead them from point-to-point from the south to the north and on to freedom.

And that is a historical word picture of the points of light that we, as born-again Christians, must become in this very dark world, reflecting the light of Christ in order to lead those in the bondage of sin to the north-star of freedom, Who is Jesus. And the question becomes, from meditation on the picture, song, and Scriptures today, … “Are we being the big dipper, showing the way from the darkness of sin, … by leading these lost ones onward to the freedom they will only find in the north-star of our Savior, Jesus?!!”

I was led by a Spirit-led underground railroad of faithful followers, who were shining Christ’s light into my life; and they led me to THE LIGHT of freedom that only our Lord could bring into my life of darkness. And now I walk in that light, declaring loudly, … HALLELUJAH!!!

My Prayer for Today … Lord, You are THE LIGHT Who led me to freedom. Amen
