My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Alyson Kieda, uses a story about the sudden death of a young friend to illustrate how we must live our lives everyday for God’s glory. … The ODB author wrote: Bobby’s sudden death brought home to me the stark reality of death and the brevity of life. My childhood friend was only twenty-four when a tragic accident on an icy road claimed her life. [see photo] Growing up in a dysfunctional family, she had recently seemed to be moving forward. Just a new believer in Jesus, how could her life end so soon?
Years ago I was taken by Jim Croce’s song, Time In A Bottle {linked above}, which he wrote to illustrate how fleeting our life is and how we should live it to maximize how we live, especially for those we love. And the song was tragically illustrated by how Jim Croce died … in a plane crash as a young man, … just on the rise as a song-writer and performer.
And today’s ODB entry reminds us all that our lives are but a blink of God’s eye; and taking in all the truths from God’s word above, we should be living our lives - EVERY DAY - prioritizing what we do … ALL for God’s glory. So, I hope all of us will take in the song, meditate on God’s truth above, and then go out, knowing that whatever we do, if it’s for our Lord, it will not be in vane.
