November 18, 2023… Avoiding ANGER …

November 18, 2023</u>… Avoiding ANGER …

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in this song with lyrics from a worship group  singing  … You’re Rich In Love …  Poignantly and yet powerfully singing of how God is rich in love and slow to anger … as we Christians should be to others.

============

Highlight Passage: … Genesis 4:6-7 [NLT] …

“Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”

God, in His love for Cain, could not - and would not - let Cain’s sin go by without confronting Cain and giving him an opportunity to repent

Highlight Passage (in context)</u>: Genesis 4:1-12 (NLT) … USE THIS LINK

… God love confronts Cain’s anger.

===============                                                                 .

Reference Passage: …Psalm 37:8  (NLT] …

Stop being angry!  Turn from your rage!  Don not lose your temper - it only leads to harm.

… God’s warning thru King David’s song, to avoid anger which leads to sin.

Reference Passage: …Proverbs 14:17, 29 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… God, thru Solomon, repeatedly warns God’s chosen to avoid anger in dealing with life.

Reference Passage: …Ephesians 4:26-27, 31-32 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK

… God thru the Apostle Paul’s experience and wisdom exhorts fellow Christians (and you and me) to intentionally avoid letting anger give a foothold for the devil, rather to forgive those who’ve wronged any Christian just as Christ has forgiven us.

Reference Passage: … James 1:19-20 [NLT] …

19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. 20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.

… James, the brother of Jesus, clearly and strongly exhorts fellow Christians to be slow to anger which often leads to sinful desires.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Tom Felton … AT THIS LINK …   writes about a man who had many skills and did things well; but everyone around him could see that he couldn’t control his anger which held him back in achieving success.  And knowing the man, the ODB author regretted not confronting him about his anger issues.

Just as God called out Cain about his sinful anger, which led him to kill his brother Abel, so God, thru His word (see Scriptures above) calls us to show God’s love to others by confronting their (our) anger when it surfaces.  … Because, … as the attached photo says, “ANGER is only one letter short of DANGER” in our lives.  So, I’m praying that we all meditate on the Scriptures above where God is calling us all to stay away from the Danger Zone of Anger, … forgiving others and sharing God’s love, rather than striking out in anger.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for helping me hold back my anger, choosing to share Your love and grace others who need it.

My Prayer Today:: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray. again today, that all reading here will join me, … to avid anger in our lives, Lord, … sharing Your forgiving love and grace whenever we can.    … Amen
