My Journal for Today:  … Our Daily Bread author, Jennifer Benson Schuldt, uses a common word picture to teach about God’s relentless design to bring His faithful into Christlikeness. She wrote: Sunlight glittered on the swimming pool in front of me. I overheard an instructor speaking to a student who had been in the water for quite a while. He said, “It looks like you’re getting tired. When you’re exhausted and in deep water, try the survival float.”
Certain situations in life require us to spend our mental, physical, or emotional energy in a way that we can’t sustain.  David [see the highlight Psalm 55 above] described a time when his enemies were threatening him and he felt the emotional weight of their anger.  He needed to escape the distress he was experiencing.

But David had faith In His God to deliver any true believer, like himself, from the pits of despair and destruction. The Apostle Paul and Peter (see reference passages above) had to learn that lesson the hard way as well. And often we are led into circumstances in life which God uses to reshape us into His own image and bring us closer to Himself.

And those of us reading here together need to learn those faith-building lessons as well, which teach us the truth which Phillips, Craig, and Dean sing about in their linked song above. Our God is going to do whatever it takes to bring us to Himself. So, dear one, get ready for His faith-building lesson today.

My Prayer Today:   Heavenly Father, … help me to pay attention, Lord, and accept what you’re doing in my life today to bring me closer to You. Amen
