Reference Passage #4 … 2nd Corinthians 9:6-7 [NKJV] …
6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
… The Apostle Paul teaching on giving back to God from His providence.

My Journal for Today:  … Our Daily Bread author, Amy Boucher Pye, related a personal story, teaching about our giving back to God from what He has given us. She wrote: At the memorial service for my friend’s dad, someone said to her, “Until I met your father, I didn’t know a person could have fun while helping others.” Her dad contributed his part in helping to build the kingdom of God through serving people, laughing and loving, and meeting strangers who became friends. When he died, he left a legacy of love. In contrast, my friend’s aunt—her father’s older sister—viewed her possessions as her legacy, spending her latter years worrying about who would protect her heirlooms and rare books.

I needed that reminder from ODB today as well as the Scriptures where Jesus taught about where our heart lies when we’re dealing with our money. It’s so easy to have the attitude of the “rich young ruler” when we deal with our money (see the Mark 10 passage), isn’t it? And someone once told me that all one would need to do is see our check book (or online account) and our calendar to see where our heart was when it comes to our real priorities in life [see Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6:21 and Luke 12:34].

I have learned over the years as a Christian that Paul’s teaching on giving (see 2Cor. 9:6-7) is absolutely true; and that we can’t out give God, Who will always provide what we need in life. So, today’s ODB was a good reminder for me; … perhaps for you too.

Today’s Prayer: Lord, help me to do what Brian Littrell sings in the linked song today … to surrender all back to Your. Amen
