My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Jeff Olsen, tells a personal story to illustrate how we can see our God’s handiwork every day. The ODB author wrote: Sunsets. … People tend to stop what they are doing to watch them . . . snap pictures of them … and enjoy the beautiful view.
My wife and I watched the sun setting over the Gulf of Mexico recently. A crowd of people surrounded us, mostly strangers who had gathered at the beach to watch this nightly phenomenon. At the moment the sun fully slipped below the horizon, the crowd broke out with applause.

My wife and I love sunsets too; and we’ve seen some glorious ones, having lived in Hawaii and traveled in the Greek Isles. Me personally, … I’m a sunrise guy, … being a morning person. But my wife misses a lot of those, NOT being up too many mornings early enough to see God show off God’s glory in a sunrise.

I can recall one absolutely magnificent sunrise as we cruised into the harbor in Athens, Greece a few years ago with a group from Insight for Living Ministries. Note the attached photo, taken by a friend I met that morning on the deck of our cruise vessel, who shared God showing off that morning; and he was nice enough to share his photo with me [Thanks, Paul!]. It was magnificent! … God’s created sun rising over the Acropolis where Paul preached his famous Mars Hill sermon [in Acts 17]; and we also saw where that happened later that day.

And when I see a sunrise like that, I think of God’s “SON” (not “sun”), rising in my heart everyday because I believe in Him as Lord and Savior.  So, … the next time you see a glorious sunrise or sunset, remember that God’s Son rises in the hearts of Christians every day and will never set in darkness when we join Him in glory.

And PLEASE take the time to view the video and take in the images with the song linked above, … meditating on God doing a glorious show-n-tell everyday with His creation.

My Prayer Today: Heavenly Father, … thank you, Lord, for showing Yourself in Your creation and especially, as today here, Your Son rises in my heart … Amen
