Devotional Song:  … GO TO THIS LINK …  Please take the time to take in a YouTube video of images and lyrics from the group Phillips, Craig, and Dean singing their song… I Want To Be Just Like You … poignantly singing of what is seriously missing in our current times, … i.e., a generation who has been raised up in the ways of Christ.

My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, David McCasland, quotes instructions on parenting to illustrate what has come to be missing in today’s world. The ODB author wrote: A phrase on many parenting websites says, “Prepare the child for the road, not the road for the child.” Instead of trying to remove all obstacles and pave the way for the children in our life, we should instead equip them to deal with the difficulties they encounter on the road ahead.

When one reads the instructions of God’s word on parenting our children found in the Scriptures from the Old Testament [see above], and we look around at today’s generation, we can’t help but think, “What’s wrong with this picture,” … can we? We’re living in a post-christian era where too many children are being raised without fathers, … and too many have been enabled rather than enriched, … producing what I call a generation of entitlement!

Too many of our young don’t know the ways of God taught in the Scriptures above because they’ve missed out on what Phillips, Craig, and Dean sing about in the linked song today. And the result has become a generation of “WHY ME” and “GIMME” kids, … children who are incapable of living as Paul exhorted in Phil. 2:3-4 [i.e., like Christ]; … because these are kids who’ve only seen and learned how to be selfish in their sinful nature. And unless and until we parents/grandparents raise up a generation who knows the ways of Christlikeness, we are going to have to reap what we’ve sown in this world.

My Prayer Today: Heavenly Father, … Lord, I pray that Christian parents raise their kids to be like Christ. … Amen
