June 17, 2024 … Faithful Giving …

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ... Please take the time to take in this song with lyrics from the group Vintage Worship singing Generous Giver … poignantly singing of our our hearts reflecting Jesus as the most generous giver.

Giving generously ...

==========

Highlight Passage: … Deuteronomy 24:19 [NLT] …

19 “When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don’t go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans, and widows. Then the Lord your God will bless you in all you do.

God calls for His chosen to leave grain in the fields at the harvest for those who need the grain to live.

Highlight Passage (in context): … Deuteronomy 24:17-24 … USE THIS LINK

… God, thru Moses, instructs His people to live excess grain in the fields at harvest for the poor and needy to glean for themselves.

Reference Passage: … Proverbs 11:24-25, 19:17 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… God, thru Solomon, shows God’s people how to generously give so that those in need can be cared for.

Reference Passage: … Matthew 6:21 [NLT] …

21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

… Jesus teaches that our giving reflects the treasure in our hearts.

Reference Passage: … Luke 6:38 [NLT] …

38 Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full — pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.

… Luke quotes Jesus on how we should give generously to support others.

Reference Passage: … Acts 20:35 [NLT] …

35 And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

… The Apostle Paul calls on fellow Christians to how to give to support the needs of others..

Reference Passage: … 2Corinthians 9:7[NLT] …

You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

… The Apostle Paul quotes from Solomon in Prov 22:8 that God loves those who give freely and cheerfully to help those in need.

My Devotional JournalToday’s Our Daily Bread Author, Matt Lucas - AT THIS LINK tells of how the author’s church was called on, a few years ago, to support the needs of a group of refugees who were fleeing oppression in their homeland. And the ODB author reports that His fellow church members stepped up and gave generously to take in the refugees and provide them with their needs.

And that story reflects what God calls of His people when they (we) are given the opportunity to help those in need. Have you taken in the ODB entry and the linked song today? And what are we willing to give to reflect what God has given us; and that is nothing less than His everything, to save us from our sin. Personally, I can do more … MUCH MORE; … how about you?

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for what You have given to save me.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I praying today that those who read with me here will join me give back as a reflection of what You’re given, Lord, to save us from ourselves. … Amen
