My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread Author, Unpublished online - Brent Hackett  … AT THIS LINK     …  told of Bible teacher,  Dr  M.R. DeHaan publishing a devotional message in Our Daily Bread, where he wrote of desiring to digest God’s word about as much as he loved eating Cracker Jack candied popcorn.  And shortly thereafter, DeHaan began receiving a deluge of the candied popcorn in the mail from followers of Our Daily Bread. 

  

Dr. DeHaan,  in the 1959 devotional was trying to show how pursuing and taking in God’s word should become a daily habit, which is like being addicted to something like candied popcorn.  That’s what King David was trying to get across to believers in the Highlight Passage, as well as the authors of God’s word in the scriptures shared above.  

Everyday you find me here, journaling my thoughts as I take in my daily dose of God’s word from Our Daily Bread, in prayer and in God’s word.  And like Hugh Houston writes in His book, Jesus Is Better Than Porn   … having once been addicted to the ravages of porn myself, I now have become “addicted” to God’s Word.   And, …  if my readers, have take in the of truth of God in His word shared above,  I think you’ll see, as I have, …  that God’s word  is most certainly SWEETER THAN HONEY; and may I say, more powerful than anything Satan could ever use to lure us away from our God. 

So, … I’m stopping to pray here today, as Jesus prayed in John 17:17, that all of us who aspire to follow Jesus will become “addicts” to God’s truth and seek out His powerful word, which as King David found, will transform our hearts to follow God’s will and His ways.   

My Thanksgiving: … Oh, King Jesus, thank You, … Lord … for giving me the sweetness and the power of Your word, Lord to take in every day of my life life.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I praise You, Lord. … for the sweetness and power of Your word, as we take it in every day.  … Amen
