Reference Passage #5 Hebrews 13:5-6 [NKJV] … USE THIS LINK …
… Repeating from Deut. 31: 6 and Ps. 118:6, the Author of Hebrews exhorts our confidence in a God which we sometimes just don’t understand, especially when we end up with more questions than answers.
My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread author, David C McCasland, reminded me of conundrum or dilemma I often face, where I’ve exhausted all my human reason and even searched exhaustively to answer a “WHY” question in my life; but I come up with more questions than answers. Ever been there? I’d bet that almost all reading here with me have that T-shirt, don’t you?
My ODB author today wrote as follows, Throughout life we may experience sorrows for which there are no adequate explanations. Some are catastrophic events with far-reaching effects while others are personal, private tragedies that alter our individual lives and families. We want to know WHY, but we seem to find more questions than answers. Yet even as we struggle with “Why?” God extends His unfailing love to us.
The questions become, as Big Daddy Weave sings in the linked song today, … Do we trust … and can we obey, … our God? So many things in life present more questions than answers; and we simply, but most challengingly, are forced to just “trust and obey.”
All of the above great names in the Bible [see scriptures above], … Job, Isaiah, Habakkuk, the Apostle Paul, and the Author of Hebrews, ... were faced with a serious time in their lives where there were far more questions and answers; and they simply had to surrender to the “trust and obey” conundrum as do we many days and times in our lives.
My Prayer Today: Heavenly Father, … Today, Lord, at least in this moment of humility, I trust You and seek to obey. Amen
