My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, David C McCasland, used a modern-day movie hero to illustrate how God sent the ultimate super-hero in His Son, Jesus, to be the King Who would save the world. The ODB author wrote: As Star Wars fans around the world eagerly await the release of Episode 8, “The Last Jedi,” [see photo] people continue to analyze the remarkable success of these films dating back to 1977. Frank Pallotta, media reporter for CNNMoney, said that Star Wars connects with many who long for “a new hope and a force of good at a time when the world needs heroes.”
At the time of Jesus’s birth, the people of Israel were oppressed and longing for their long-promised Messiah. Many anticipated a hero to deliver them from Roman tyranny, but Jesus did not come as a political or military hero. Instead, He came as a baby to the town of Bethlehem. As a result, many missed who He was.

And I find it interesting that the Star-Wars phenomena in the last decade or so, along with the many DC Comics movies, play to our need, as humans, to seek a super-hero to save us from ourselves. But God, in His eternal plan, put the ultimate Super-Hero in a manger in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago to be our Savior! In that regard, that King, born in a stable, is the first and the last Jedi Knight Who has saved us from our humanity.

But this Super-Hero baby confused the people in the first century AD, because they were looking, as many are now, for a super-strong image-bearer to be their (our) savior. But, as Pentatonix sings in the linked song, “Joy To the Word!”

Yes, … our Super-Hero has come; and, as we read in the Scriptures above, He did His Super-Hero work on the cross so that we can be saved from our selves for eternity.

I can only pray that any reader here believes - completely and utterly - in our ultimate Jedi Savior; … that HE IS KING JESUS!!!

My Prayer Today: Abba Father, … King Jesus, … Precious Spirit … O Lord, You are my HERO … and You came to save me from myself. HALLELUJAH!! … Amen
