Berry Patch Devotions in 2017 - Day 94
Devotional Song: … GO TO THIS LINK … Please take the time to take in a YouTube video of images and lyrics from the group Hillsong leading in worship and singing … Jesus, You’re All I Need … poignantly singing of how Jesus is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider.
=============
Highlight Verse[s]: Philippians 4:12, … 19 [NLT] … 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.
… 19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
… Paul, with faith in God as His Provider, learned to live in all circumstances … with plenty or little, …knowing that His God would supply his needs, teaches us all how to live, trusting that God will supply all our needs in/thru our relationship with Christ by His Spirit.

Highlight Passage [context]: Philippians 4:10-20 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …
… God, thru Paul’s life/ministry shows that He will provide what we need if we trust in Him.

Reference Passage : … Luke 8:1-3 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …
… God often uses others to supply what we need. … As Jesus traveled with His 12 disciples, there were women who came along to support their ministry/life and provide for their needs.
Reference Passage : … 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …
… God, thru Paul, reminds Christians that ALL things are for our good.
My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Marvin Williams, uses a comforting story of people providing for the needs of their mailman to illustrate how God uses His family to provide for one another and for others in need. … The ODB author wrote: On a particularly hot day, eight-year-old Carmine McDaniel wanted to make sure his neighborhood mail carrier stayed cool and hydrated. So he left a cooler filled with a sports drink and water bottles on their front step [see photo]. The family security camera recorded the mail carrier’s reaction: “Oh man, water and Gatorade. Thank God; thank you!”
Carmine’s mom says, “Carmine feels that it’s his ‘duty’ to supply the mailman with a cool beverage even if we’re not home.”
This story warms our hearts, but it also reminds us that there is One who will “meet all your needs,” as the apostle Paul phrased it.
And the Apostle Paul (in the highlight passage), writing from imprisonment, wrote of his love for others in Philippi, who had sacrificially provided for his needs; and he confidently wrote of how God, often thru others, is our Jehovah Jireh - our provider, Who would (and will) ALWAYS provide for our needs.
The problem is we often get our NEEDS confused with our WANTS; and we feel slighted when we go thru times of privation or trial. But Paul’s life gives us a vivid picture of being contented at ALL TIMES and in ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, with the faith that God is going to meet - and often exceed - our needs.
Prayerfully we all can say as did Paul in today’s highlight passage, “I can do all things, through Christ, who gives me the strength.”
And PS: Hopefully you know Romans 8:28 by heart; and we all need to ask ourselves if we REALLY believe it and then live with confidence in its truth.
