Jacob wrestles with God ...

My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread from Patricia Raybon …  USE THIS LINK     … described a district wrestling competition where girls as young as eight competed in one of the oldest sports in history; … and where the competitors must use various grappling, escapes, takedowns and other point-winning techniques.   And the ODB author described how one 10-year-old girl was quicker and more dogged to hold on to win in her age category.  

And the wrestling match at her school reminded the ODB author of Jacob’s wrestling match with God (see Highlight passage and photo), where Jacob, even thru a painful and permanent injury to his hip, held on, until God blessed Jacob with a new name and identity.  Jacob wanted to change from his old, sinful, nature to a new person; and he was willing to hold on to God until God blessed Jacob to become “Israel.”   

Some days I know that I end up “wrestling” with God until I humble myself in seeking to hold on until God grants His enabling grace, which allows me to grow close to Him and reflect His grace in my life.  And as it says in God’s word (See Scriptures above), I will continue to hold on TODAY, until God grants me His enabling and empowering grace.   How about you; … is that your desire today?  

My Thanksgiving: … Oh, King Jesus, thank You …Lord, … for letting me hold on to You to receive Your grace today … 

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, … we seek to hold on until You bless us with Your grace today.    … Amen
