Reference Passage #1: Romans 8: 28 … [Sometimes it’s just hard to see that God’s blessings might come in the testings of life.] … [NLT] …
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Devotional Song: Go to this link … Please take the time to hear Laura Story, singing her poignant and personal song “Blessings” … And if you don’t know Laura Story’s testimony, seek it out with this link … to realize just how personal her song is to learn the lesson that God’s “blessings often come through raindrops” … that “the trials of this life are often God’s mercies in disguise.”
My Journal for Today: The rather lengthy story of Joseph, which unfolds for us toward the end of Moses’ book of Genesis, is a great example of how trial after trial and testing after testing can reveal God’s mercy and His blessinga in disguise. And that’s why I’ve led my readers to take in the powerful and very personal song which came to mind as I was meditating through my devotional for today.
So, I hope that anyone reading here with me will take the time to use the two devotional song links I’ve provided above to hear the song, “Blessings,” written and performed by Laura Story … along with her brief testimony segment. Perhaps you know Laura’s story with her husband being diagnosed with a brain tumor and going through surgery after surgery, each time with them praying for his complete healing. But God had another course for their life; and the living out of God’s design taught Laura that God’s “BLESSINGS” often come through the “testings” of life.
Perhaps you’re in the midst of some testing situation at this time; or you know how the trials of life, like David wrote about in telling about the testings in Joseph’s life in the Psalm 105 song he wrote … as he, the pre-anointed King David was going through all the testings God was putting him through as he tried to escape King Saul.
Have you come to learn the lesson from all of this; and do we really believe the truth of what Paul wrote about in Romans 8: 28 … that ALL THINGS … yes, even the TESTINGS of life … can be – and probably are – as Laura Story writes in her song, “… God’s mercies in disguise.”
Nuff said!! I think you get it.
My Prayer for Today … Lord, I get it … and yes, even the sickness and trial I’m going through right now, Lord, is one of Your blessings in disguise. … Amen
