My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread author, David C. McCasland, wrote of a museum in Zagreb, Croatia, … The Museum of Broken Relationships [see attached photo]. McCasland writes that the museum,   is filled with anonymously donated remnants of love gone wrong. There is an axe that a jilted lover used to destroy the furniture of an offending partner. There are stuffed animals, love letters framed in broken glass, and wedding dresses all speak volumes of heartache. While some visitors to the museum leave in tears over their own loss, some couples depart with hugs and a promise not to fail each other.

These displays certainly are a testimony to the brokenness that many - if not all - experience when relationships go sour. I certainly can attest to this broken heartedness, because my marriage was almost destroyed by my revealed infidelity a dozen years into our marriage. By all worldly standards - especially today - Elly and I should not be married. But my wife and I experienced what Jesus declared that He, as the Messiah, had come to do for mankind, and that is (see Isaiah 61: 1-2 and Luke 4: 18-19) to come with the anointing of the Holy Spirit to heal the broken hearted and set at liberty those who are oppressed. And our Lord has certainly done that for my wife and I … as we are just about to celebrate 50 years of marriage, 31 of those in Christ. No one can tell Bill and Elly Berry that Jesus can’t heal broken hearts and relationships.

As Wayne Watson sings (linked above for your hearing) in the “Friend of a Wounded Heart;” and as Queen Latifah so poignantly sings, our Lord can AND WILL fix broken relationships if those with broken hearts are willing to bring them to Him for healing. Jesus is our Good Shepherd, as well as Jehovah Rapha (our Healer); and He can AND WILL lead the broken hearted from the shadow of the valley of death to that garden of healing He promises in Psalm 23. He is there to carry the burdens of brokenness (see Matthew 11: 28-30); but we’ve got to be willing to bring our cares to Him because He cares so deeply for us (see 1st Peter 5: 7 and 2nd Cor 12: 9.

How about we take our brokenness to Him today and let our Lord do His healing thing.

My Prayer Today: Oh Lord, … I pray others experience Your healing touch the way my wife and I have. Amen
