May 9, 2015 … Just A Reminder

Daily Berry Patch Devotions in 2015 - Day 129

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK  … Please take the time to take in a video of the group 4Him singing the poignant truth… Back To The Basics, reminding all Christians to get back to the basics of the faith to shine God’s light in to our ever darkening.

Highlight Passage Titus 3: 1-2 [NKJV] …
1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
… Paul’s suggested TO DO list for Christians
============
Highlight Context - Titus 3: 1-8 [NKJV]USE THIS LINK
… Paul, in mentoring Titus, exhorts the younger pastor to remind the people of their lives as born-again Christians
============

Reference Passage #1 - Matthew [NKJV] …
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
… Jesus’ strongest REMINDER to His disciples

Reference Passage #2 - Acts 1: 8 [NKJV] …
8 “… But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
… One of Jesus’ strongest reminders as He re-entered heaven after the Resurrection

Reference Passage #3 - Romans 12: 1-2 [NKJV] …
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
… A strong “reminder” from God through Paul

  Reference Passage #4 - Ephesians 2: 8-10 [NKJV] …
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
… Paul’s exhortation as to what follows salvation - i.e., becoming Christ’s workmanship on earth

My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread author, Dave Branon, reminded me today of how important REMINDERS are in our lives. And the Apostle Paul knew that because many - if not most - of his writings were reminders to Christians in general or specific disciples, like Timothy or Titus, to live as they were worthy of their calling as Christians. Take note of the highlight passage from Paul to Titus, linked above, and see that it begins with Paul telling Titus to “REMIND” those in the church to live in certain ways as followers of Christ. And in all of the reference passages, copied above, Jesus and Paul are exhorting (really, with Jesus commanding) Christians with reminders to live in, through, and for our Lord … every day!

 So, if you’ve taken in all that is written as REMINDERS for us, as Christians, above, I don’t think I need to go on here at all, do I? We have our TO DO list for today and all days remaining here on earth.

Let’s just go DO IT!

My Prayer Today: Oh Lord, … shine Your light Lord so that I can get my TO DO list done today. Amen
