Reference Passage : … Isaiah 53:6 [NLT] … 6  All we like sheep have gone astray; … we have turned, every one, to his own way; … and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
… Prophesied hundreds of years before Christ died, He, the Messiah, was to take our burden of sin on His own shoulders on a cross at Calvary.

Reference Passage : … Ephesians 2:8-9 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK
… Paul confirms that we could never brag about our salvation because it comes ONLY thru the blood of Christ and nothing we can do.

Reference Passage : … 1st Peter 2:24 [NLT] … 24 … Who, [Christ] Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
… He took all our burden of sin on His body, shedding His blood on the cross as the perfect Lamb of God.

My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Marvin Williams, used a rather exaggerated scenario to illustrate the burden that Christ took upon Himself to unburden us of our sin. The ODB author writes … It’s not unusual for utility bills to be surprisingly high. But Kieran Healy of North Carolina received a water bill that would make your heart stop. The notification said that he owed 100 million dollars! Confident he hadn’t used that much water the previous month, Healy jokingly asked if he could pay the bill in installments.
Owing a 100-million-dollar debt would be an overwhelming burden [see photo], but that pales in comparison to the real—and immeasurable—burden sin causes us to carry. Attempting to carry the burden and consequences of our own sins ultimately leaves us feeling tired and riddled with guilt and shame. The truth is we are incapable of carrying this load.

Hundreds of years before Christ was born and died on the cross for our sins, Isaiah predicted (see Isaiah 53:6) He would do so. And now that it has occurred and those of us who’ve benefitted from our Lord paying that price, I pray we all recognize the extent of the burden, … the sin debt, … He has paid for us.

Because if we do, we should be so grateful that we would tell others of what our Lord has done for us, shedding His blood that we will never have to carry the burden of our sins for eternity.

Do I sense a grateful ”HALLELUJAH!!” from the saints reading here with me.

My THANKFULNESS: … Oh Abba Father, … thank You, Lord, for paying our eternal debt of sin.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, … King Jesus, … Let me share with others the burden you took upon Yourself, Lord, so anyone who believes in You, as Lord and Savior, can benefit from Your sacrifice. … Amen
