October 2, 2018 … Branded !!

Berry Patch Devotions in 2019 - Day 274

Devotional Song: … GO TO THIS LINK …  Please take the time to take in a YouTube of images and lyrics from Joy Williams singing … Do They See Jesus In Me … poignantly singing of the brand name we wear as “CHRISTians” … prayerfully with the character of Christ clearly visible for others to see. … And ON TO THIS LINK to hear the Maranatha Singers singing Jesus, Name Above All Names, singing how being labeled with the name of Jesus gives us the best brand Name we could have.

Highlight Verse[s]: Zechariah 3:4 [NLT] … 4 Then He [The ANGEL OF HE LORD] answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him [the priest representing the people].” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.”
… The Prophets picture of the coming Messiah re-robing God’s chosen ones in His robes of righteousness.

Reference Passage : … Ephesians 4:1-4 [NLT] ... USE THIS LINK
… Paul wanted all Christians to wear the worthy brand of “Christian” wherever they walked and how they lived to declare their discipleship with Christ.

Reference Passage : … Philippians 1:6 [NLT] … 6 … being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; …
… What Jesus began by branding us with His robes of righteousness at salvation, His Spirit will complete in Glory having made us over in His image.

My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Tim Gustafson, used an historical story to illustrate how Jesus gives us His robes of righteousness to cover our sin rags when we’re saved, allowing others to see His “brand Name” in the way we live. The ODB author writes … Scooping up the smallest children, a frantic maid raced out of the flaming house. As she ran, she called loudly to five-year-old Jacky.
But Jacky didn’t follow. Outside, a bystander reacted quickly, standing on the shoulders of a friend. Reaching into the upstairs window, he pulled Jacky to safety—just before the roof caved in. Little Jacky, said his mother Susanna, was “a brand [stick] plucked from the burning.” You might know that “brand” as the great traveling minister John Wesley (1703–1791).
Susanna Wesley was quoting Zechariah, a prophet who provides valuable insight into God’s character.

I used one of the same linked song as I did in my journaling from yesterday, because it very aptly sings of how we are given Jesus’ robes of righteousness to cover our sin rags when we’re saved. And as we surrender to His Spirit, the Lord’s “branding” should become more and more apparent to others as they see Jesus in us by the way we live and move and have our being in this life.

It’s like someone seeing our shirt or shoes with that ever-present “swoosh” brand on them, advertising a well-known brand of athletic clothing. Well, when others see us wearing Jesus’ robes, and they cover over our sin rags, the “Messiah” brand becomes an obvious advertisement of WHOM we are wearing; … because our brand is “King Jesus!”

And again, I repeat today with Joy Williams’ song, … OH, how I pray others see Jesus’ Name in the way I live … the Name above all other names as the Maranatha Singers sing (also linked above).

My THANKFULNESS: … Oh Abba Father, … thank You, Lord, … for giving me Your brand Name, … the Name above all names.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, … King Jesus, … I pray, Lord, that I can wear Your robes for all to see Your worthiness in my life. … Amen
