My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Remi Oyedele, uses a reference to a modern singing group experiencing the presence of the Holy Spirit to show that our God reigns over all. And the ODB author wrote: Former Newsboys lead vocalist Peter Furler describes the performance of the band’s praise song “He Reigns.” The song paints a vivid picture of believers from every tribe and nation coming together to worship God in unity. Furler observed that whenever the Newsboys sang it he could sense the moving of the Holy Spirit in the gathering of believers.
Furler’s description of his experiences with “He Reigns” would likely have resonated with the crowds who converged on Jerusalem at Pentecost. When the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4), things began to happen beyond anyone’s experience.
As we celebrate Pentecost in the Christian calendar, we look back at the miraculous time when the Lordship and Reign of Jesus, the Christ, came down and was experienced by peoples of all nations and races gathered in Jerusalem after the resurrection of our Lord. And the lives of all those who truly believed in the Gospel message preached by Peter on that day were changed forever as the Holy Spirit came to reside in their hearts and lives and they were changed forever.
But GLORY BE … that any who read here can [AND WILL] experience that same changed life (see the reference passages above), as those of us who’ve repented of our sins and surrendered to the reigning power of the Holy Spirit, have received the inhabiting influence of God’s Spirit in our lives. And I do pray that all reading here are walking in that Gospel truth.
