Highlight Verse[s]: Song of Solomon:8:6 [NLT] … 7  Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned. … God’s love is more powerful that the torrents of flood waters.

… Since God is indestructible and God is love, … His love is indestructible.

My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Jennifer Benson Schuldt, used the word picture of the power of flood waters to illustrate the awesome and overwhelming power fo God’s love. … The ODB author wrote: When we first saw the stream in our backyard, it was just a thin vein of water trickling through a bed of rocks in the heat of the summer. Heavy wooden planks served as a bridge we could easily cross. Months later, torrents of rain pounded our area for several days in a row. Our tame little creek swelled into a quick-moving river four-feet deep and ten-feet wide! The force of this water heaved the bridgeboards up and deposited them several feet away.
Rushing water has the potential to overwhelm almost anything that stands in its path. Yet there’s something that’s indestructible in the face of a flood or other forces that might threaten to destroy it—love.

Anybody who’s ever experienced the seemingly overwhelming force of flood waters (see photo) knows how powerful and and destructive flood waters can be. Perhaps that’s why Solomon used the word picture God’s Spirit led him to use in describing how AWESOME and INDESTRUCTIBLE God’s love is [see highlight passage]. And that’s why God also shows us in His word, just how powerful His “agape” love is (see 2Cor. 13:7-12) and how we, as His disciples should display His love to others (see John 13:34-35 and 1John 4:7-12) so that others will see how awesome is our Lord’s love, … loving us the way He does.

And I pray we all find ways, … even today, … to share the awesome force of God’s love with others. Let’s go forth and share a bit of what the group Hillsong sings in the linked song.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, … King Jesus, … I pray, Lord, that all reading here can, and will, join me to take the power of God’s love and loose it on the world today. … Amen
