My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Poh Fang Chia, illustrates the only door into heaven by referring to the door of a subway train.

 Perhaps you’ve seen this scenario. You’re on a subway train car; and you hear the warning that the door is about to close - beep - beep - beep and then the automated voice warning, ”Step back, … the door is closing!!” And then you see someone trying to desperately get onto the train by sticking their arm through the door (see attached photo), hoping the door will reopen and let them in.

 Well, as author Chia points out, many times that desperate attempt to get on the train is foolish because there’s another train coming, maybe just a few minutes later, to make the same route to the same destination. However, when it comes to making the train to Heaven, there may or may not be another time - or another day - to make the train. We just don’t know what tomorrow holds, do we? And the open door to Heaven, which is only that of Jesus, The Christ, may only be open for one last time to one who has yet to walk through that Door.

 Acknowledging our sin and receiving the finished work of Christ on the cross is the ONLY DOOR (see John 14: 6) unto Heaven; but one must walk through the Door (see Romans 10: 9-13, linked above). And I pray that any reading here today are on that train … destination Heaven.
