7 He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; … therefore He shall lift up the head.
… God provides His living waters and His strength when we’re depleted and our strength is gone.

Reference Passage #1 … Isaiah 40:31 [NKJV] …
31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, … they shall run and not be weary, … they shall walk and not faint.
… Surrendering all to let Him give us His purpose and direction.

Reference Passage #2 … Philippians 4:13 [NKJV] …
13 I can do all things through Christ, Who gives me the strength.
… Christ is ALWAYS our source of strength when ours is seemingly gone.

My Journal for Today:  … Our Daily Bread author, David Roper, illustrates the strength we have from God’s grace when we see a steep hill to climb in life (see attached photo). He wrote: High in a fold of Jughandle Peak in the mountains north of our home in Idaho lies a glacial lake. The route to the lake goes up a steep, exposed ridge through boulders and loose stones [again see photo].
It’s a strenuous ascent. At the beginning of the climb, however, there is a brook—a spring that seeps out of soft, mossy earth and flows through a lush meadow. It’s a quiet place to drink deeply and prepare for the hard climb ahead.

Every day we all (and certainly yours truly) face steep hills to climb. Perhaps you see one up ahead which will require more strength to climb than you feel you have. Well, as our ODB author writes today, and Stephen Curtis Chapman sings in today’s devotional song, just as the refreshing living waters pictured in the ODB illustration today, we have God’s living waters and empowering grace to draw upon when we’re facing any steep climb in life.

When Stephen Curtis Chapman wrote the lyrics to today’s linked song, he was trying to find the strength to climb out of the grief of losing a small child in a horrible family accident. We all will encounter steep, … seemingly unclimbable, … hills when we don’t feel we have the strength to go on. But our Lord has the living waters we need to renew our strength for the climb ahead. And as the scriptures above attest, we can find the strength, in/from Him, to keep on climbing. That’s why I’m here today, seeking His refreshing truth, to give me the strength to climb that hill up ahead.

My Prayer Today: Heavenly Father, … Lord, give me Your living waters today for the climb ahead. … Amen
