My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Xochitl Dixon, uses a true story of of a friend who finally found the faith to trust in Jesus in spite of dire health challenges. … The ODB author wrote: When my friend received a diagnosis of cancer, the doctor advised her to get her affairs in order. She called me, sobbing, worried about her husband and young children. I shared her urgent prayer request with our mutual friends. We rejoiced when a second doctor encouraged her to never give up hope and confirmed his team would do all they could to help. Though some days were harder than others, she focused on God instead of the odds stacked against her. She never gave up.
My friend’s persevering faith reminds me of the desperate woman in Luke 8. [see photo]
But how often does our faith wane - even those of us who know Jesus as Lord and Savior - especially when we’re confronted with some dire health challenge or even a word like “CANCER,” as in the ODB story? But as Nicole Mullen sings in the linked song, that woman in the Luke 8 story (see highlight passage), pursued just a touch of Jesus’ garment to seek His healing grace. And that’s the kind of trust and faith we should have in our Lord when our faith is challenged.
Oh, we might not experience healing as did the bleeding woman; but our persistent faith and prayer for God’s grace, will ALWAYS be met with His touch - sometime/somewhere - in this life or the next. And our faith is the only ingredient our Lord asks of us.
And that is our choice, as I pray today that we can trust in our Lord and seek His grace … NO MATTER WHAT!
