Berry Patch Devotions in 2019 - Day 346
Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ... Please take the time to take in a YouTube video of song and lyrics from Zach Williams singing … Fear Is a Liar … poignantly singing of how our fears lie to us that we’re not strong enough to face our enemies.

Highlight Verse[s]: 1Samuel 17:45 [ESV] ...
45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
… David had no fear in facing Goliath because of his confidence in His God

Highlight Passage [context]: 1Samuel 15:4-5, 45-50 [ESV] ... USE THIS LINK ...
… David showed God’s army they should not fear Goliath, because they were following God into battle.

Reference Passage : …John 16:33 [ESV] …
33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
… On His way to the cross, Jesus showed His disciples (and us) that there was no reason to fear the world, because He had overcome the world.
Reference Passage : …Romans 8:31 [ESV] …
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
… God, thru Paul, shows us that there’s nothing in this world which can overcome our God. So, why should we fear anything in the world?
Reference Passage : … 2 Timothy 1:7 [ESV] …
7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
… Paul shows Timothy (and us) that our fear does not come from God, but only from the author of lies, … Satan.
Reference Passage : … 1 John 4:4 [ESV] …
4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
… We, as God’s children, need not fear the world because God’s power, which is in us, is greater than any power in the world.
My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Albert Lee, uses a more recent story of a many who let fear imprison him in his own home for years; but unknowingly fear was a liar and the ODB entry then uses the OT story of David and Goliath to illustrate how the lies of the world and Satan can be defeated with faith in God. … The ODB author wrote: Fear ruled a man’s life for thirty-two years. Afraid of being caught for his crimes, he hid at his sister’s farmhouse, going nowhere and visiting no one, even missing his mother’s funeral. When he was sixty-four, he learned that no charges had ever been filed against him. The man was free to resume a normal life. Yes, the threat of punishment was real, but he allowed the fear of it to control him.
Likewise, fear ruled the Israelites when the Philistines challenged them at the Valley of Elah. The threat was real.
I really think Zach Williams’ song, linked above, really says all the ODB entry today was trying to get across to any Christian reading here. But meditating, believing, and acting on the truths behind the scriptures above really tells us what we need to know to deal with our fears of ourselves or the world [see 2Tim.1:7].
And, as these truths tell us, … if we really believe that Jesus has overcome the world [John 16:33] and that the power in us is greater than the power in the world [1John 4:4], … like young David [1Sam. 17:45], why wouldn’t we believe that our God is greater than any “Goliath” the world brings against us [Rom. 8:31]?
Yes, my friend, any fear we have is a liar !!

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, ... for giving us Your truth to overcome our fears.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me today, to set our lying fears aside and follow THE ONE Who has overcome the world. … Amen
