Reference Passage: … Ephesians 6:4 [NLT] …

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

… Paul teaches fellow Christian parents to bring up their (our) children in disciple which comes from the Lord.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Alyson Kieda … AT THIS LINK   Shares from the 60s Andy Griffith TV show, where Andy was told to raise his boy, Opie, to make his own decisions.  However, disagreeing, Andy said,  “You can’t let a young’un decide for himself. He’ll grab at the first flashy thing with shiny ribbons on it. Then, when he finds out there’s a hook in it, it’s too late. Wrong ideas come packaged with so much glitter that it’s hard to convince them that other things might be better in the long run.”

And that’s very BIBLICAL advice isn’t it, … especially if you believe in God’s word as shared above from Solomon, Moses, and the Apostle Paul to Old and New Testament believers.  All of us have likely heard the old saying, “Like father, … like son;” haven’t we?  Well, Andy Griffith certainly taught that to Opie, didn’t he?  And that’s the kind of legacy Christians should be leaving for others as we model Christlikeness for others and especially for our children.

What kind of a legacy, as Nicole Nordeman sings in the linked song, will we be living for our children to follow and others to see today?

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for modeling Your legacy for us thru Your word.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to do all we can to model Your legacy of living for us so that we can pass it on to our “young-uns.”           Amen
