My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread Author, John Blase … USE THS LNK - … relates a scene from Frederick Buechner’s historical novel Brendan, where the character Gildas, is an amputee. And during his interaction with Brendan, the main character, Gildas falls and is saved from injury by Brendan, who declares, in doing so to save Gildas from injury, … “To lend each other a hand when we’re falling. Perhaps that’s the only work that matters in the end.”
And this reference to the character Brendan helping Gildas in the novel reminded the ODB author today of the true Bible story of King David’s kindness in sparing his friend Jonathan’s crippled son, Mephibosheth, found in today’s highlight passage. In David’s era, that kind of kindness was a highly unusual outreach of kindness, illustrating what is taught in the Scriptures above as the way all Christians should act to one another, showing Godly when other need it … ALWAYS.
Personally I could do more to show Christlike kindness to others; …how about you?
My Thanksgiving: … Oh, King Jesus, thank You, … Lord …for showing me how I should be kind to others ALWAYS.
My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... Thank You, Lord, for being our model of kindness to others. … Amen
