Reference Passages #1 ... Luke 5: 16 … Jesus often needed to get alone, wait, and pray to His Father [see also – Matt. 14:13,23; 26:36; Mark 1:35; 6:46; Luke 4:42; 6:12; John 6:15] …
Luke 5: 15 However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. 16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.
My Journal for Today: Today my Our Daily Bread quiet time with God reminded me that there are times in our lives when it’s best to STOP, … WAIT, … or even REST, waiting on God. How often do we feel overwhelmed by the world or by circumstances which swamp us, or when our health is compromised in some way? Sometimes the so-called “tyranny of the urgent” causes us to quit trying to keep pace with the demands of life, and it leads us to just stop and wait on God to do His thing, … in His time, … and for His purposes.
Even Jesus had that dilemma at times, didn’t He? In His humanity, he would get overwhelmed by the demands of those who followed after Him, often demanding much; and so our Lord would choose to get alone somewhere in a quiet place to pray to the Father and to wait on His timing and to be rekindle by the strength provided by His Spirit [see reference passages above]. Why would we think that we are stronger than Jesus and try to keep taking on Satan and the world all on our own?
As Sara Groves sings [see link above] and the attached photo depicts, sometimes it’s just best to wait and rest in the love of God and let His timing and His ways prevail; … and then to accept both.
Need I say more; … I don’t think so.
My Prayer for Today … Lord, right now I needed to be reminded of this. I’ll wait on You. … Amen
