My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Jennifer Benson Schuldt, opened by taking her readers (me) back to the time where God confronted His people on Mt. Sinai with Moses as His go-between, going up on that mountain to receive God’s Law. It’s no wonder the people shook with terror at what they experienced on that mountain. God had to show Himself to be GREATNESS and GLORY on that mountain for the people to revere and “fear” Him for Whom He is. But no one could relate to God in His majesty, glory, and holiness as Moses brought His unsustainable Law to the people through Moses.

But now we love and serve that same great and awesome God, the God who gave us His law through Moses. But today we can know Him and love Him because He sent His Son to become our King … to live with us, die for us, and to be raised in life, defeating death and establishing His kingdom on earth for all mankind to identify and choose to serve King Jesus in this life and the next. He is still the glorious God of Mt. Sinai; but now we need not cringe at our inability to fulfill His Law. No, … He has done that for us by sending His Son to redeem us from ourselves and for His Holiness [see 1st Corinthians 15: 3-4].

Today we don’t need a Moses to go to the rumbling mountain to bring us His commandments. We have His Son as the fulfillment of His Law; and we can revere and serve our King Jesus on the mountain-top of our hearts where He resides. Come today, climb the mountain of His word with me and serve Him gladly by loving His truth and serving Him with our loving and living sacrifice [see Romans 12: 1].

My Prayer Today: Oh, my Lord, You are the majestic God of the mountain where You brought Your Law to us; but You are also the God on the mountain-top of my heart where You now reside and I can worship You, King Jesus, and serve You with my living sacrifice. … Amen
