My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Jennifer Benson Schuldt, uses a news story to illustrate the hope that we can only find in the Messiah Who was sent to mankind to deliver us from ourselves. But the ODB author today took her readers (me) back to one of the many bad times in the book of Judges when God’s people had rebelled in sin and in Judges, Chapter 13, linked above, God sends a Nazarite to be their hope of deliverance, … the child Samson.

A “Nazarite” was a called one, … one who had certain life demands placed on them to become what God intended them to be. And we know how Samson became disobedient to his calling not to cut his hair; and in his disobedience, he was rendered helpless in his task to be a Judge for God’s people. Yet, finally, in the end, he was restored to power and became the deliverer he was called to be.

And another such Nazarite, centuries later, John, the Baptizer, was called to prophesy and declare the Christ-hood of THE Savior of the World. And John became a voice in the wilderness declaring that The Messiah had come in the Person of Jesus, … The Christ. And Jesus would become THE ONE Whom God’s people - His faithful followers - could place their everlasting hope.

Please take in all that I’ve been given above to share with readers here today and sing out a loud HALLELUJAH! to THE ONE Who has come and has delivered us from our selves into eternal life in glory!

My Prayer Today: Yes, HALLELUJAH, Lord … You are our only hope! Amen
