My Journal for Today: … Our Daily Bread author, Jennifer Benson Schuldt, related an illustrative story about G.K.Chesterton, the famous British apologist, who went out to sketch the lovely British countryside with pastel chalks. And when he arrived, with a lovely scene to sketch (see attached photo), he discovered that he had forgotten to bring an essential color of chalk … WHITE. But then, laughingly, Chesterton discovered that all he had to do was pick up any rock around him because the countryside was made up of white limestone. which essentially is white chalk. And in that moment G.K. realized how God provides what we need to live this life.
And that is the devotional message today for any/all reading here; and it is conveyed in the passages by the Apostles Peter and Paul above … that God’s Spirit will give us all we need to live our lives … if only we but surrender our ways to His. Certainly it’s a tough lesson to hold onto in life, isn’t it [?]; … especially when we’re confronted by pain, anguish, and our own obvious weaknesses.
But both Peter and Paul recognized God’s willingness, and most certainly His ability through His Spirit, to give us what we need when we need it.
So, I pray today that we go out and use what God provides us to draw out our picture of life.
My Prayer Today: O, Heavenly Father, … Lord, you’re all I need!! Amen
