… Peter also helps us deal with our anxieties.

My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Dave Branon, uses a story of a person who let worthless worries rule their mind. The ODB author writes … A law-abiding, honest man received a voicemail that said, “This is officer _______ from the police department. Please call me at this number.” Immediately the man began to worry—afraid that somehow he had done something wrong. He was afraid to return the call, and he even spent sleepless nights running through possible scenarios—worried that he was in some kind of trouble. The officer never called back, but it took weeks for the worry to go away.

Can anyone reading with me identify with this story about the worthlessness of worry? Worry can bring us into a state of emotional paralysis if we let it. Anybody been there in your past; … perhaps right now?

However, as the group Mercy Me sings in the linked song and the scriptures above attest, God gives us an alternative to worry which allows His peace to take charge in our lives, giving us the choice to give our anxieties over to Him.

Choosing to give our worries to God is being proactive with our faith rather than being reactive to our fears; and yes, it’s natural. But I, for one, … today … am going to choose to take God’s prescription for His peace rather than letting my fears cripple me from being His servant. … How about you?

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, … King Jesus, … I pray, Lord, that all reading here can, and will, join me to cast our cares before You throne of grace. … Amen
