My Devotional JournalToday’s Our Daily Bread  Author, James Banks -  AT THIS LINK -   writes about an 18th century poet, William Cowper, who was committed to an asylum after suffering from chronic/severe depression and unsuccessful committing suicide.  While in the asylum, Cowper was helped by a friend, the famous reformed slaver, John Newton, whom. as a Pastor, worked with Cowper to publish a hymnal which included many of the hymn lyrics written by Cowper, … like the hymn, God Moves in a Mysterious Way - see linked song

And then the lyrics of this hymn were compared with the biblical story of God’s people being mysteriously and wonderfully delivered when King Jehoshaphat had God’s people pray for a victory over the enemies of God’s people, … which God did in such a wondrous and mysterious way (see highlight passage above).  And prayerfully, any reading here, who may be downcast or feeling oppressed, can - AND WILL - find peace by praying and trusting God for His enabling and empowering grace.

And so, here today, … I call on “all y’all” (as we would say here in the South of the USA), as you read in the attached Scriptures, to take your worries, your concerns, and any depression to our Lord, Who is waiting and eager to share His strength and guidance as our Father to His chosen and faithful children.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for allowing this weakened follower to yoke myself to Your enabling and empowering grace.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray. again today, that all reading here will join me today, … to receive Your grace, Lord, giving us Your power and deliverance today.. … Amen
