Daily Berry Patch Devotions in 2016 - Day 187
Devotional Song: … GO TO THIS LINK … Please take the time to take in a You Tube video of Steven Curtis Chapman singing a song for which he wrote the lyrics… His Strength Is Perfect, poignantly expressing the strength of Spirit support we have in Christ.
Highlight Passage: Exodus 17:11-12 [NKJV] …
11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
… Sometimes we need this support of our fellow believers to defeat our enemies.

Reference Passage #1 … 2nd Corinthians 12: 9 [NKJV] …
9 And He said to me [Jesus to Paul], “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
… God’s strength, through His empowering grace, is always there to cover our weakness.
Reference Passage #2 …Hebrews 13: 5 [NKJV] … USE THIS LINK …
… God repeats His promise in Hebrews offered to Moses first.
My Journal for Today: … Our Daily Bread author, Anne Cetas, illustrated God’s promise/power to be there to support His children in times of weakness with a poignant story. She wrote: Her thirty classmates and their parents watched as Mi’Asya nervously walked to the podium to speak at her fifth grade graduation ceremony. When the principal adjusted the microphone to Mi’Asya’s height, she turned her back to the microphone and the audience. The crowd whispered words of encouragement: “Come on, honey, you can do it.” But she didn’t budge. Then a classmate walked to the front and stood by her side. With the principal on one side of Mi’Asya and her friend on the other, the three read her speech together. What a beautiful example of support!
Sometimes, even though we know that God will always be there (see God’s promise in Hebrews 13:5, first issued thru Moses in Deut. 31:5), we just need the support of others in our life, don’t we? That was the way for Moses when God’s army came up against the Amalekites in Exodus 17 - see above. Moses needed to hold his staff high for God’s army to see it; but he was too weak; and his brother, Aaron and another warrior, Hur, held up his arms with their support.
Perhaps we know someone in our lives who needs God’s support through our coming along side and holding them up in some way. Let’s be on the alert and see whom we can support today.
My Prayer Today: O, Heavenly Father, … Your strength has always been there for me when I needed it just as Steven Curtis Chapman sings. Let me be Your power for someone else again today. Amen
