1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional points to a truth on which I’m afraid all too many who call themselves Christians miss out; and that is the “white flag” of surrender attitude that is necessary … first for salvation and then for the process of sanctification.

First, Joe Stowell, the author of today’s ODB, relates a story illustrating the attitude of true worshippers of Christ. He relates … ”Recently, while watching a video of a church service held in South America, I noticed something I had never seen before in church. As the pastor passionately called his flock to yield their lives to Jesus, one of the parishioners took a white hankie out of his pocket and started waving it in the air. Then another, and another. With tears running down their cheeks, they were expressing full surrender to Christ.”

The white flag (see attached photo) has always been the international symbol of SURRENDER; and that’s the attitude, also captured in today’s devotional song link, which is absolutely necessary for one to come into a saving relationship with Christ [see Romans 10: 9-13; and then by extension, for a born-again believer to be reformed into Christ’s image, an attitude of white flag surrender is necessary on a day-by-day, even a moment-by-moment, basis for God’s Spirit, working his wondrous work of completion (see Phil. 1: 6) to regenerate the heart of a believer into an attitude of Christlikeness.

So today, as the Apostle Paul wrote about in Romans 12: 1-2 (see above), we have to ask ourselves, … Are we waving the white flag of surrender today in our pursuit to be more like Jesus today than yesterday … and even more tomorrow than today? Ask yourself that question in meditation as you use the link above to hear Faith Hill singing, I Surrender All

My Prayer for Today … Lord, prayerfully, I DO surrender all. … Amen
