My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Dennis Fisher, especially with a lot of Old Testament reminders of how God’s people had to tread so lightly and take so many precautions as God made His presence and power known to the people. If one reads through and meditates on how God’s presence was made manifest in those Levitical OT times, it’s easy to see why the people were “sore afraid” to be in God’s presence.

But here we are, as the author of Hebrews so eloquently reminds us, being able to come in faith - BOLDLY before God’s throne of grace - being in surrender to all God did for us on the cross; … and to bring our petitions to a God Who’s so very willing (and able) to pour out His grace from His throne as He now resides in our hearts. So, do we realize that we can do so ANYTIME and ANYWHERE? And as any young person would not likely say today, ”HOW COOL IS THAT!!”

What is your need today? Do you feel, as Fernando Ortega sings in the linked hymn today, that you need Jesus every hour? I certainly do! And I’m bowled over with gratitude, praising my Lord’s Holy Name, that I can come, as Peter wrote (in 1st Peter 5: 7), casting all my cares on Him … because as the author of Hebrews also wrote, HE CARES FOR MY (and your) NEEDS!!

So, let’s do come BOLDLY to His throne of grace today, and bring all our cares to Him, humbly requesting, with contrite hearts, that we need our Lord every hour of every day.

My Prayer for Today … I need THEE every hour, most gracious, LORD! … Amen
