My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by David McCasland, refers to the chronicles of the Apostle Paul by Luke in the book of Acts and by Paul himself in his letters; … i.e., accounts of incredible dedication, consistency, and courage to spread the word of Christ’s saving power all over the known world at the time.
When one reads the book of Acts (see links above) and Paul’s own accounts of his harrowing trials [see 2nd Corinthians, Chapter 11], one has to be bowled over by Paul’s total surrender to his own exhortation in Romans 12: 1-2, which I hope we all know by heart and do all we can to follow as a command from God.
I’m afraid I’ve got some growing to do to find myself in even the minor leagues when it comes to being willing to surrender myself as a major-leaguer Gospel messenger like the Apostle Paul, who, as you can read in the passages linked above, was willing to do anything as a “living sacrifice” of courage in sharing Christ all over his world.
Prayerfully we can reflect at least some of the courage and commitment exhibited by Paul as we living our lives for Christ in our days and times.
My Prayer for Today … Lord, help those of us who’ve been redeemed by Christ to have the courage to share this good news with others. … Amen
