My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, James Banks, shares a personal story about his grandson whose confession illustrates how we can come to God seeking His mercy. And the ODB author wrote: I opened the whimsically illustrated children’s Bible and began to read to my grandson [see photo]. Immediately we were enthralled as the story of God’s love and provision unfurled in prose. Marking our place, I turned the book over and read the title once again: The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name. …
To be honest, sometimes the Bible, especially the Old Testament, is hard to understand. Why do those who don’t know God seem to triumph over God’s own? How can God permit such cruelty when we know that His character is pure and that His purposes are for our good?

Good questions; … but they’re answered by God, Himself, in His word. And every word in the Bible speaks truth and reveals who King Jesus is to us and leads us to follow and serve Him more effectively (see reference passages above). That’s why, when the confused disciples were walking to Emmaus after the crucifixion [see highlight passage], Jesus appeared to them, using His word from the Old Testament to explain and reveal Himself.

And the more we dig deeply into God’s word, … i.e., His truth, … the more we get to know Jesus and love Him more deeply and serve Him more effectively. Hence, … you find me here - EVERY day - doing all I can to get to know my Lord more intimately thru His word. I pray all reading here have discovered what the children’s Bible (in the photo) reveals … that every story in God’s word reveals the name of Jesus; and as the Getty’s sing (in the linked song), God speaks to us thru His word.

And I also pray that we all will become more effective disciples of Christ by following His word.

My THANKFULNESS: … Oh Abba Father, … thank You, Lord, … for giving us Your word to show us YOUR WAY to live.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, … King Jesus, … I pray, Lord, that all reading here can, and will, join me to live and abide in Christ as He shows us, thru His word, His way to live for His glory. … Amen
