Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 309

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ... Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Misty Edwards singing … I Will Run … powerfully singing of the Lord calls His chosen to run the race of life for His eternal prize of heavenly glory.

==============

Highlight Passage: …  1Corinthians 9:25  [ESV] …

25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. <

… Paul compares life to a race for which a runner prepares to run with endurance to receive the prize at the end of the race.

Highlight Passage (Context): …  1Corinthians 9:24-27 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

… Paul shows fellow Christians that they (we) must prepare to run the race of life for the eternal prize that awaits the believer in Heaven.

===============                                                                     .

Reference Passage: …  Isaiah 40:31 [NLT] …

31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

… By trusting in the LORD, He will give His empowering grace to run the race of life.

Reference Passage: …  Philippians 3:13-14 [NLT] …

13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

… Paul shows that in running the race we call life we must focus on the ultimate prize which God has waiting for us in Heaven.

Reference Passage : …  2Timothy [NLT] …

  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.

… Paul testifies to Timothy of his endurance in running his race in life to finish well for God’s glory.

Reference Passage: … Hebrews 12:1-2 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… God exhorts His disciples to throw off any that hinders us from running the race of life for the glory that lies ahead for us in Heaven.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Adam Holz … AT THIS LINK tells of the discipline and preparation that NFL quarterback Tom Brady put into life as a pro football player that led to him being labeled as the G.O.A.T., the “greatest of all time.”

And though this life picture may have some flaws, … it does illustrate just how much preparation it takes to excel in anything in life. And the Apostle Paul often used the life picture (see Pauline Scriptures above) of runners preparing to try to win a race to illustrate what it takes for the Christian to prepare for and run the long-distance race we call life to achieve the price of Heavenly Glory at the end of the race.

And at the end of his life, Paul declared that he had run his race and had finished the race well (see 2Timothy 4:7). How about you and me? As God, in Hebrews 12:1-2 calls us, … have we cast off all that hinders our running, and are we disciplined in running the race well … EVERYDAY … to achieve the victory that lies ahead for those who trust in God and use His empowering grace to run the race of life for His glory?

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving me Your grace to undergird my run for the prize You have waiting for me, Lord, in glory.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to work and to run diligently and daily, Lord, for Your glory. Amen
