… We serve an ever-present, ever-compassionate God - ALWAYS!!!
My Journal for Today: … Our Daily Bread author, Joe Stowell, reflected on a personal story about how just being there for a hurting friend can - and usually does - bring peace to the loved one. The ODB author wrote: Our hearts sank when we learned that our good friend Cindy had been diagnosed with cancer. Cindy was a vibrant person whose life blessed all who crossed her path. My wife and I rejoiced when she went into remission, but a few months later her cancer returned with a vengeance. In our minds she was too young to die. Her husband told me about her last hours. When she was weak and hardly able to talk, Cindy whispered to him, “Just be with me.” What she wanted more than anything in those dark moments was his loving presence.
I
sn’t that what we want from our God; … i.e., for Him to always be there, especially when we are hurting or confused and need to sense His presence, … His grace, … His love? Of course, we do!! And it’s only when we can focus, in faith, on His presence, in humble thankfulness, that we can receive His peace (see Isiah 26:3 and Philippians 4:6,7).
Perhaps, dear one, you’re in a place today where you just need to know that your Savior is there for you; … that He’s even going ahead of you … to pave the way for your peace (see Deut. 31:8 and Hebrews 4:15). Well, … until we KNOW - in faith - that our God will ALWAYS be there for us, as He ALWAYS has and ALWAYS will be [see Hebrews 13:8], we will not find that glorious peace which only He can provide (see Phil. 4:6-7).
So, my fellow Christian, I plan to lean HEAVILY on my ever-present Lord today and get as much of His peace as I can. How about you?!
My Prayer Today: O, Heavenly Father, … Lord, I’m selfish, but thankfully and gratefully so! I want more of Your peace today. So, I come to You as I do here everyday, … for Your mercy and grace. More please!! Amen
