My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Monica Brands, uses a personal story to illustrate how our God can provide inexplicable peace, even in the midst of dire situations. The ODB author writes … It always amazes me the way peace—powerful, unexplainable peace (Philippians 4:7)—can somehow fill our hearts even in our deepest grief. I experienced this most recently at my father’s memorial service. As a long line of sympathetic acquaintances passed by offering their condolences, I was relieved to see a good high school friend. Without a word, he simply wrapped me in a long bear hug. His quiet understanding flooded me with the first feelings of peace within grief that difficult day, a powerful reminder that I wasn’t as alone as I felt.

When we encounter the storms of life, Ryan Stevenson, in today’s linked song, points us to the only way to find peace; and it is actually Jesus’ invitation and the truth of God’s word which leads us there. And as King David sung about it in Psalm 16 and Isaiah prophesied in Isaiah 26:3, God’s unfathomable peace can only be found in a deep and abiding relationship with Him. Our focus on Christ in the midst of the storms of life, … i.e., trusting Him no matter what, … is the ONLY way to receive His peace in the midst of turmoil. We get to choose and … as the attached photo proclaims …

NO GOD — NO PEACE … KNOW GOD — KNOW PEACE!

Personally I choose the latter!!
