April 13, 2021 … Icing On the Cake …

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...  Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Chris Tomlin singing … I Will Follow You … powerfully singing of how we Christians should follow those who follow Christ to be able to lead others to Him.

Icing on the cake of discipleship ...

==============

Highlight Passage:  2Timothy 1:5  [ESV] ...

I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.

==============

Reference Passage: … Joshua 1:8 [ESV] …

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

  If we’re going to be successful in follow the Lord and leading others to follow Him, we must be in, and follow diligently, God’s word.

Reference Passage: … Proverbs 3:5-6 [ESV] …

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  6  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.

  Mature Christians need to model and teach this truth to other, lesser mature, believers.

Reference Passage: … Matthew 28:19-20 [ESV] … USE THIS LINK …

  Jesus command to all His disciples … to go and make disciples … teaching the converts to observe everything from God’s truth.

Reference Passage: … 1Corinthians 11:1 [ESV] …

1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

  Paul knew that others could follow him because he was following Christ.

Reference Passage: … 2Timothy 3:16-17 [ESV] …

16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

  If we’re going to lead others to strong faith, we must lead them into and thru God’s word.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Elisa Morgan, AT THIS LINK   compares leading her grandson in faith to the icing-on-the-cake of discipleship (see photo), … moments so sweet as she showed her progeny how to follow Jesus.

Elisa Morgan, the ODB author, then used the biblical example of how Timothy was led to faith by his mother and grandmother (see highlight passage) and then mentored in the faith by Paul (see all of 1st and 2nd Timothy).

Did you ever have anyone in your walk of faith that lovingly and diligently showed you the way to follow Christ once you knew Jesus as Lord and Savior?   I sure did … in a retired Christian Physician who diligently mentored me into and thru God’s word, as Moses had done with Joshua (see Joshua 1:8) so that Joshua would be able to lead His people to the promised land.

My mentor showed me the truth and power of God’s word to be able to follow Christ as Jesus had commanded in the Great Commission (see Matt 28:19-20).  All Christians, therefore, are to lead others by God’s word to strong faith so that they (we) will follow our Lord as well (see Prov 3:5-6 and 2Tim 3:16-17).

So, this morning I’m praying that all reading here are either being led by another mature Christian, as Paul led Timothy, or are strong enough in your faith to follow Jesus commission to lead others into a stronger faith-walk in Christ.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, King Jesus, … for leading me to be able to lead others as Paul declared in 1Cor 11:1)

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me today, … to lead other Christians either to Christ or closer in their walk with Him. … Amen
