My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread Author, Katara Patton … USE THS LINK - … talking to her mom on a Thanksgiving day later in her mom’s life, the ODB author asked her mother for what she was most thankful; … to which her mom replied, … ”that all three of my children know how to call on the name of the Lord.” That was surprising to the author, her mom being a teacher, that her kids would value how she had been raised as a Christians more than their education or doing well in the world.
It reminded the ODB author of what Solomon taught in the Book of Proverbs (see Highlight Passage)… of how important it is to raise up children in the fear of the Lord so that they would return to the ways of God (see Prov 22:6 and the other Scriptures shared above).
Right now, on this Thanksgiving day here in the USA, I’m thinking of what I’m most grateful. And I’m agreeing with the ODB author’s mom. My wife and I have two beautiful daughters who became teachers; and though we’re grateful that they have become successful in the world, we are most grateful that both of our kids know Jesus as Lord; and are raising our grandkids to know and follow Jesus as Messiah and Lord.
For what are you most grateful on this Thanksgiving day?
My Thanksgiving: … Oh, King Jesus, thank You …Lord, … for our kids and grandkids knowing You as their Lord and Savior.
My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, … that our legacy (hear the linked song) is a family who know and love You as their King and Savior. … Amen
