February 8, 2015 … Law or Grace? … Who’s Boss?

Daily Berry Patch Devotions in 2015 - Day 39

Devotional Song: ... Go to this link  … Please take the time to take in a video of Phillips, Craig, and Dean singing their poignant song… He’ll Do Whatever It Takes, … expressing the reality of God’s relentless pursuit of His children with his saving and sanctifying grace … And THEN TO THIS LINK  with their song, Your Grace Still Amazes Me to declare the wonders of God’s grace, which takes over to rule in our lives IF we’re willing to surrender to its power.

Highlight Passage Romans 6: 14 [NKJV] …
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
… Neither sin or the Law shall control the Christ who has submitted his/her life to the grace of God.

Reference Passage #1 - Romans, Chapter 8 [NKJV]USE THIS LINK

Reference Passage #2 1st Corinthians 10: 13 [NKJV] …
13 No temptation [or test or trouble or tribulation] has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

  Reference Passage #3 2nd Corinthians 12: 9 [NKJV] …
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” … Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Reference Passage #4 2nd Timothy 1: 7 [NKJV] …
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Bill Crowder, uses a personal story to illustrate the reality the power of God’s grace in the life of a Christian. He writes, … “ As my wife was babysitting our two young grandsons, they began to argue over a toy. Suddenly, the younger (by 3 years) forcefully ordered his older brother, “Cameron, go to your room!” Shoulders slumped under the weight of the reprimand, the dejected older brother began to slink off to his room when my wife said, “Cameron, you don’t have to go to your room. Nathan’s not the boss of you!” That realization changed everything, and Cam, smiling, sat back down to play. “

How often do we Christians bow our heads in self deprecation or shame, forgetting the power we have in Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to overcome the trials of this life? If you take in the two songs and all of God’s word copied or linked above, surely you will be lifted up, as I was today, to realize that, as Christians, we may be tried by the circumstances of life, … but God’s Law, nor our own sin, has any power to defeat us now that the Holy Spirit resides in our hearts.

And PLEASE, go back and meditate on Romans, Chapter 8 and realize that as long as we believe in all that Paul wrote in that Chapter, under the inspiration of God’s Spirit, there is nothing that can be our BOSS in this life save the Lordship of Christ; and certainly there’s nothing which can separate us from the love of God, save our own decision to yield to our spiritual enemies.

So, join me today to declare the truth that ONLY CHRIST is our boss … our Savior … and our Lord!

My Prayer for Today O Lord, … You are my boss, … my only boss; and I will partake of Your amazing grace today, tomorrow, and all days. … Amen
