July 11, 2015 … In The Desert

Daily Berry Patch Devotions in 2015 - Day 192

Devotional Song: … GO TO THIS LINK  … Please take the time to once again take in a video of Big Daddy Weave singing his songRedeemed, with the truth of how we are redeemed from the death of the deserts of life … redeemed thru, in, and for Christ … to partake of His living waters forever.

Highlight Passage Isaiah 48: 21 [NKJV] …
21 And they did not thirst. When He led them through the deserts; … He caused the waters to flow from the rock for them; … He also split the rock, and the waters gushed out.
… God is there for us in the deserts of life, providing us with His living waters …

Reference Passage #1 - John 4: 7-15 [NKJV] USE THIS LINK ...
… Jesus is the only One Who could provide the Samaritan woman the living waters of life

Reference Passage #2 - John 7: 37-38 [NKJV] …
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
… When we thirst, we come to Him for the living waters of His truth …

My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread author, Julie Ackerman Link, used the word picture of a desert to describe a condition in which all Christians find themselves at times. A desert, of course, as Link writes, is … ”A place where there is little water, … a place hostile to life. And it’s generally a place which is uninhabited and avoided by mankind.

However, … in Christ we are redeemed and/or restored from the heat and agony of the deserts of life. It was like that time when Jesus ran into the Samaritan woman at the desert well (see the John 4 passage linked above). And Jesus showed the woman a new kind of “living water;” and she went away from that desert place, redeemed and able to partake of Jesus’ life-giving sustenance and forgiveness … forever.

Perhaps some reading here with me today need the life-giving … “living waters” … that only Jesus can provide. If so, come to Him and drink today. Even being here in His word today has given me those refreshing waters today. … So, my friend … drink of His waters today!!

My Prayer Today: Oh Lord, … I drank from Your well today; and I’ll be back for more tomorrow. Amen
